Services at Manchester
Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS)
ESDS is a national data service funded by ESRC and JISC and led by the University of Essex, to provide access and support for an extensive range of key economic and social data, both quantitative and qualitative, spanning many disciplines and themes.
- ESDS Government led by CCSR, promotes and facilitates increased and more effective use of government datasets, such as the LFS and GHS, in research, learning and teaching across a range of disciplines.
- ESDS International led by Mimas, offers UK researchers access to, and specialist support for, databanks such as the OECD, the IMF and the World Bank.
The ESRC Census Programme has two strands based at Manchester:
- The Census Dissemination Unit, based in Mimas, connects the academic community to aggregate information from current and historical UK censuses.
- The Samples of Anonymised Records (SARs) programme, based in CCSR, provides methodological developments, dissemination and research support for SARs from the 1991, 2001 and 2011 Censuses.
